Prescott Shooting Range and Gun Club is now offering OUTDOOR classes at Ben Avery with Instructor Jim Owens.

COST $250 per day +  $25 Range Fee

Jim Owens is a U.S. Army veteran who served as an infantryman. He spent 18 years as a police officer in a large Midwest municipality. He has been teaching law enforcement, active duty military and civilians for 16 years.

In that time, Jim has developed a teaching style that is balanced with competence, patience, comprehensiveness and humor while keeping the safety of the students at the forefront. His techniques, constant adherence to practical applications and high standards for those he is teaching makes for a rewarding experience!

Required Equipment List: 

-A dependable Firearm with a minimum of 5 magazines

-A backup Firearm if available

-Carbines can be chambered in 9mm/.40/.45/10mm/5.7/.38/.357. Other calibers will be considered as well. (For Rifle/Carbine Classes)

-500 rounds of quality ammunition (yes, 500, it’s a shooting class, we may not shoot all 500 but it’s better to have more)

-A quality two-point sling is preferred, but a one-point sling is acceptable. (For Rifle/Carbine Classes)

-Quality handgun with a minimum of three magazines and 150 rounds of range ammo. (For Rifle/Carbine Classes)

-A holster designed for your handgun. No serpa or any type that requires your trigger finger to release the handgun from retention.

-Magazine pouches and/or a chest rig or battle belt setup are all acceptable for the pistol caliber carbine and pistol.

-Hat/ball cap.

-Eye protection.

-Ear protection, preferably electronic, not muffs.

-Sturdy belt; make sure you have pants with belt loops, no yoga pants or spanks!

-Closed-toe shoes; no sandals or Crocs.

-Pen and small notebook.

-Black Sharpie marker.

-Sunscreen.

-A water bottle and water.

-Snacks and your lunch.
