All of our instructors are lifelong shooters with an expansive knowledge of firearms, formal NRA-Certified experience in firearms instruction, and an unbridled passion for the shooting sports.
Steve Booher
Owner / General Manager
Steve is a lifelong shooter and supporter of the 2nd Amendment. He grew up target shooting and hunting with his family. Steve was a SASS Cowboy Action Shooter for many years with the Double RR Bar Regulators and still enjoys competitive shooting today.
Steve has trained with Gunsite, Front Sight, numerous NRA instructors, as well as USCCA Instructors. Steve is an NRA Certified Pistol and Rifle Instructor with a passion for helping both new and experienced shooters improve their skills in a safe and supportive environment. Steve holds degrees in Business, Human Development, and a Master’s in Science Education, combining his technical expertise with a strong background in teaching.
Steve is a Sergeant with the Arizona Rangers and enjoys giving back to the community. Whether you are stepping on to the range for the first time or looking to sharpen your competitive edge, Steve is committed to delivering high-quality, personalized instruction.
Stacy Booher
Owner / General Manager
Stacy moved to Prescott Valley in 2004 where she became a teacher for the Humboldt Unified School District. Fast forward to 2025 and Stacy is finishing up her 27th year of teaching, with the past 16 years at Bradshaw Mountain High School teaching Freshmen English. Stacy will be retiring from teaching high school English in May of 2026.
As Stacy and Steve were talking about their future retirements they both agreed they were not, sit around kind of people, so they decided to purchase the Prescott Shooting Range & Gun Club in November 2024 as their retirement. They are both so excited to connect with and build an even larger 2A community here in Prescott.
Stacy is a lifelong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. She grew up shooting with her family and has been avidly taking classes since 2017. Stacy is an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer and an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor. Stacy is also a member of A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League, Armed Women of America, and Republican Women of Prescott.
Stacy enjoys all aspects of shooting, but her true passion is helping others improve their accuracy and skillset. Stacy is the coach for our “Ladies Night” the 3rd Friday of each month from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
John Arata
both new and experienced shooters since 1978, when he first became an NRA Assistant Rifle Instructor. Since then he’s worked with thousands of shooters, helping them to gain, improve, and sustain their skills. As the Chief of the Live Fire Division and Senior Live Fire Trainer at the US Army National Training Center, he and his staff trained tens of thousands of soldiers using free-maneuver, unscripted combined-arms live fire exercises for up to 4,500 soldiers simultaneously. John is an NRA Certified Instructor, NRA Chief Range Safety Officer and NRA Training Counselor. He is currently certified to teach the NRA’s Defensive Pistol, CCW, Basic Pistol, Basic Rifle, Basic Shotgun, Personal Protection In the Home, Personal Protection Outside the Home, and Home Firearms Safety courses, as well as the NRA’s Refuse To Be A Victim crime prevention program. John is also licensed by the Arizona DPS to teach both unarmed and armed security guards.Michael Brady
Michael grew up in North Dakota and Minnesota, hunting, shooting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors with family and friends. His first formal firearms instruction was the Hunter’s Safety course in Minnesota. Since then, Michael has hunted in North Dakota, Minnesota, South Africa, and Arizona. He volunteered as Coach, Range Safety Officer, and Rangemaster at his local gun club in Minnesota and competed in handgun leagues in California. He is a multiple Orange Gunsite alumnus.
Michael has been a safety and security leadership professional since graduating from the Criminal Justice Studies program at the University of North Dakota in 1980. He taught security management as a college adjunct in California and Minnesota. He served in an armed capacity in several positions, most recently as Director of Campus Safety & Security at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he led his team’s efforts to arm campus security from the ground up. Mike has trained clients, faculty, staff, and students on physical security, workplace violence prevention & response, and other safety topics. He is currently teaching in the Global Security and Intelligence Studies program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Michael has introduced many new shooters to the safe use of rifles and handguns over the years. He is currently an NRA-certified Rifle Instructor, Pistol Instructor, and Range Safety Officer.
Greg Luli
Greg grew up in Mount Vernon, Ohio hunting squirrel, rabbit, and deer. In his early teens he was taught to shoot by his late uncle, a USMC sniper in the Pacific Theater in World War 2. Greg still owns that Winchester M75 .22LR rifle.
After a long hiatus while obtaining a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Ohio State University, he rekindled his love of shooting. Greg has pursued training in handguns, rifle and tactical shotgun from many training institutes. He also applied his scientific training to reloading and co-authored the 6.5 Grendel Reloading Handbook, Volumes 1 and 2.
Greg is an NRA-certified Range Safety Officer and Pistol Instructor.
Mike Ellias
Mike was born and raised in Southern California and together with his wife Diane, became residents of Prescott in 2023. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Loyola Marymount University, he joined his family’s construction company and after 41 years, retired in 2016. He continues to work as a construction consultant on projects located in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. He is an experienced shooter, with over 420 hours of formal training in both defensive and tactical firearm applications, including certificates in Direct Action Response Training (DART) and Tactical Emergency Care for LE/EMT. Mike is employed at the Prescott Shooting Range as a Firearm Instructor and Range Safety Officer. He enjoys working with all levels of shooters. In addition, he continues to be extremely active in preserving and defending our 2A rights. Mike currently holds concealed carry licenses (CCW) in both Arizona and California and is certified as an Instructor and Range Safety Officer by the National Rifle Association and California Rifle & Pistol Association.Elvin Lightfoot
Elvin is a life-long Arizona resident who grew up camping, fishing and exploring the state with his father. He learned to shoot a .22LR rifle and pistol as a teen and his passion for all things firearms only grew from there. A shooting mentor of Elvin’s introduced him to a firearms training institute in Nevada which he attended several times and the dream of one day being an instructor was planted.
While raising kids and living in metro Phoenix for 30+ years he pursued reloading as a hobby, and frequented shooting ranges as often as possible. Elvin was understandably thrilled to relocate to the Prescott area almost five years ago to reconnect with the outdoors via his latest hobby of overlanding off-road trails and backroads in search of the epic camping spot.
He is passionate about sharing his experience with small arms platforms and growing his knowledge of the firearms industry. Elvin currently maintains certifications as NRA Pistol & Rifle Instructor and NRA & USCCA Range Safety Officer.
Ken Daniel
Ken learned to shoot at the ripe old age of 8 years old, having been taught by his father a Special investigator in the United States Air Force. He grew up participating in various shooting activities around the United States. Ken began his career in the Oil Industry in 1980 and retired after 36 years, running his own Mechanical Integrity and Inspection Consulting firm for the last 14 years.
After retiring in 2016, Ken was able to devote more time to participating in shooting activities and developing a proficiency in utilizing a variety of firearms. Ken and his wife Brenda relocated to Prescott in 2020.
Ken is currently certified as a Range Safety Officer, Pistol Instructor, and Rifle Instructor by the National Rifle Association.
Josh Reyes
Josh has always loved to shoot. He grew up shooting with his grandfather in the desert. Josh is a certified NRA Safety Range Officer and a NRA-Certified Pistol Instructor. Josh is currently enrolled in the Gunsmithing Program at Yavapai College.Jim Owens
Jim began his firearms career in the U.S. Army where he served as an infantry squad leader while assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division in Fort Hood. Tx. Spending approximately 18 years as a police officer in central Illinois, Jim holds several instructor level certifications, teaching law enforcement and civilians since 2008, including SWAT, Instructor Level Human Threat Pattern Recognition and Active Shooter. In addition, he has taught specialty courses such as Stop the Bleed, Tactical Combat Casualty Care and Simunitions/Scenario based training. Jim has been certified in the Glock Armorer’s Course, Glock Advanced Armorer’s Course and attended the Glock Instructor Workshop. For over fifteen years, Jim has been conducting quality training for shooters from all backgrounds and disciplines. He is well versed in lecture based and “hands on” training techniques.Cy Adams
Cy grew up in a small Nevada town where he spent his youth hunting, fishing and exploring the remote mountains. Receiving his degree in Civil Engineering he spent the next 30 years building and managing construction projects throughout the United States. After retiring Jayne and Cy moved to Prescott where they founded “APC Aviation LLC” and purchased two aircraft for training future pilots.
Cy has over 50 years of shooting experience, holds a NRA pistol Instructor and Range Safety Officer certification. He is a Gunsite alumni and has taken several defensive and advanced handgun classes.
Steve Brown
Steve is an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer, as well as an NRA Certified Chief Range Safety Officer and Certified Byrna Instructor.
Steve’s certifications include being an NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, and Shotgun
Instructor. In addition, Steve is registered with the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) to conduct LEOSA’s certifications and qualifications.
When Steve is not at PSR, he volunteers as an Arizona Ranger and he is the Deputy Director of Training for the Arizona Rangers.
